Welcome
The fifth largest urban area in Spain, Málaga is renowned for it's warm climate, it's picturesque architecture, and it's status as the birthplace of world-famous artist Pablo Picasso. Situated on the coast known as Costa del Sol, Málaga is the provincial centre of the Andalucia region and is the first place many tourists visit upon arrival in Spain. Costa del Sol is renowned for its sun-drenched beaches that stretch along the Mediterranean and is especially popular with tourists. As Málaga is the largest city on the Costa del Sol it is not surprising that so many visitors choose it as their base.
Málaga Airport (Aeropuerto de Málaga) is one of the largest international airports in Spain and is serviced by many of the low-cost airlines; as such there are plenty of car hire companies based at the airport. Some of the hire businesses that operate from the airport include Malagacar, Avis, EuropCar, Amigo Autos, Sixt, Hispacar, and ALBA Car Rentals. Upon exiting the airport you will find yourself on Av de Velazquez (N-340) which, if you travel north, will take you into Málaga via the Autovia del Mediterraneo (Ronda del Oeste, the A-7/E-15). If you journey south on the Av de Velazquez it will take you to Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella and other picturesque towns scattered along the coast. Málaga has quite warm temperatures in the summer months (July and August temperatures can reach over 30°C) and relatively cool minimum temperatures in winter (December and January temperatures dip to 8°C). As such it is worth hiring a car with both heating and air-conditioning capacities.
